Voodoo dolls are objects used in voodoo practices, a religious belief originating in West Africa and practiced in parts of the Caribbean, United States and South America. They are often made to represent a person and are believed to have the power to influence that person's life. People often stick pins into the doll to inflict harm or punishment on the person the doll represents. However, voodoo practitioners also use dolls for positive purposes such as healing and protection. The use of voodoo dolls is a controversial topic, with some seeing it as a form of black magic and others seeing it as a legitimate religious practice.
