About the Artist

"I am a self-trained artist who has spent a lifetime obsessed with comics, anime, and science fiction- the dominating subjects in his portfolio. I spent most of his early career creating paintings for friends and producing requests for commissions by word of mouth. I have subsequently shown and painted live at conventions around the country that specialize in science fiction, horror, video gaming, and comic books. In 2017, I began working with renowned pop culture artist Rob Prior and was able to collaborate with him on multiple pieces, broadening both our technique and subject matter. I am best known for my large-scale paintings of iconic characters' veritable rarity today, as most artists on a similar subject matter have fallen away from classical techniques. I paint in multiple mediums, primarily gouache on watercolor paper and acrylic on canvas. I work out of Rob Prior Studios in Hollywood and his own workshop in Rancho Mirage." -SCOTT HATTOX
