VAN GOGH in 3D
A journey through the life of Van Gogh through his most important self-portraits.
Believe it or not, Vincent van Gogh's artistic career lasted only a decade. Still, the Dutch painter was truly prolific, completing at least 39 self-portraits during his lifetime. In addition to giving us an insight into the artist's appearance, these pieces trace the trajectory of his life, from his decision to pursue painting to his tragic battle with mental health issues.
The painter had spent a few months in the Saint Remy sanatorium to try to find enough mental rest from his nervous breakdowns and his undeniable alcoholism. And it was then that in the famous letters to his brother Theo he told him that it was very difficult to know oneself, but it was not easier to paint oneself.
On this occasion, he chooses one of his most elegant poses and very formal clothes to take a picture. Much better dressed and more correct than usual, as if wanting to capture his improvement. In fact, he had the idea of sending the work to a collective exhibition that was going to take place in Brussels, although in the end I didn't send it.
The 3D ANIMATIONS show a great mastery blue of color. All of it is built thanks to the numerous variations of a dominant tone, blue, using their characteristic waves and eddies that it generates in the background.
