Camera Roll by NFN Kalyan

Released Oct 29, 2020

The things that we experience emotional attachment to in our lives have become almost entirely digital. it’s common to hear someone say, 'my entire life is in my phone', meaning that without it they would be lost. On August 12th, 2020, my father dropped dead while taking a walk with my mother. I received a call from my sister, 'did mom call you?' and immediately, I knew what the news was. Much in the way that an experience is unique, NFTs allow for the documentation of such an experience to be one of a kind. I had one father. I can’t have him again. I can’t have my moments with him again. The photos I took of the ensuing days are now tokenized. I then deleted the original images off of my phone. All that is left are the NFTs in the form of '(camera roll)'. These are the only ones and there will never be others. I will never have another father. He is lost to me both in real life and on my phone.
