A childhood love that never was, A feeling that lingered on, A crush from a distance, That never quite felt gone.

Memories of a simpler time, Of laughter and carefree days, Of watching from a distance, Hoping for a different phase.

Years went by, and paths did part, But the feeling never quite left, A longing for what could have been, A love that was never quite deft.

But now, as an adult, I know, That love can take many forms, And though our paths never crossed, I'll always hold the memories warm.
