About The Collection

James McManus is known for his imaginative style, his debut piece juxtaposes classical modern influences with contemporary hip-hop. He has mastered the marriage of musical composition and visual art. James starts with the music, allowing the melodies to paint his digital canvas with a curious density. For his debut on Nifty Gateway James presents “City of Wanted Souls”. A visual experience that started like many of his pieces do, with himself and a piano. Reimagining the piece, he collaborated with musical artist KeilyN (@dopekeilyN) who sampled a segment of his original piano composition to create the story behind the art with a song titled “Attached”.

KeilyN’s acts as your masterful lyrical guide as James sets the scene of a damned old west town. “As the world is ending and evil is at its height, this growing darkness only helps concentrate the remaining light into brighter rays of hope that fight back against the night. Those who follow the beams are brought together, whilst those who choose to dwell in the darkness continue to tear the city apart; running from the day the ending rays shine their way.”

About The Artist

Born in Michigan, James McManus is a 19-year-old visual and musical artist who specializes in animation. Being self-taught, he has been crafting his style since an early age, always having a strong passion for both exploration and creation. Whether that’s exploring the keys of a piano in search of a song or creating an idea that crosses multiple artistic mediums. James has produced visual content with Capitol Records for artists such as Terrell Hines.
