This is an open edition art piece by Pablo Stanley for Humankind, a creative force developing relatable characters and epic stories that help us reconnect with our inner kid with a unique vision of community-driven storytelling.
This is the studio's first art piece for sale, and it features many characters from the Land of Kinds, including humans, creatures, spirits, monsters, and gummies, all joined together for a portrait in the Avocado Park garden. Some details are fun and lighthearted, like the cute little monsters and the smiling kids, and others reveal a deeper story, like the characters with battle wounds and bandages.
Pablo Stanley was inspired by the mural "Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Central Park" by Diego Rivera. In the middle are Stanley himself, his partner, Mariana, and "La Catrina," just like Rivera added himself and Frida Kahlo. "La Catrina" is an iconic representation of a 20th-century elegant, upper-class woman dressed in European clothing. In Stanley's interpretation, it's holding hands with Mariana as a symbol of connection and hope.
This piece will have a future utility and kickstarts Humankind's mission to entertain and inspire people all over the globe through the power of art, kindness, and unique storytelling.
