Henosis

Massimo Magee, the acclaimed mixed media artist and musician who has theorized audiovisual digital art, presents the "Henosis" audiovisual series. Henosis is the classical Greek word for mystical "oneness," "union," or "unity." The title embodies the artist's vision of audiovisual art itself. Magee signed both the visual and musical pieces.

For Magee, audiovisual art and multimedia art were born to be digital. His theoretical intuition about audiovisual art is a fundamentally modernist idea. While the computer can enjoy the artwork in total (as one file), human observers cannot. Only once the computer translates the file's undifferentiated data into separate visual and audio readings can you experience it, and the computer's perception of the file becomes clear to you.
