A canvas of code and algorithm : A world reborn.

Released May 1, 2023

"GAN Art, also known as generative art or computational art, is created using algorithms and machine learning techniques. GAN Art has the potential to revolutionize the art world by allowing artists to explore new forms of creativity and expression. This art can be created using a variety of techniques, including deep learning, neural networks, and genetic algorithms. One of the advantages of GAN art is that it can create unique and surprising results that are impossible to achieve through traditional methods. GAN art has been the subject of numerous exhibitions and shows around the world, and is increasingly being recognized as a legitimate form of contemporary art."- . Gala

Generative art has its roots in the early 20th century, with the development of abstract art and the exploration of chance and randomness as artistic concepts. Artists such as Marcel Duchamp and the Dadaists experimented with chance operations, creating works that were determined by random processes rather than conscious decision-making.

In the 1960s and 1970s, technological advancements in computing and programming led to the development of the first computer-generated art. Artists such as Vera Molnar, Michael Noll, and Manfred Mohr used early computers to create algorithmic art, generating images and patterns through mathematical formulas and code.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the rise of personal computers and accessible software tools allowed for a broader range of artists to experiment with generative techniques. Artists such as John Whitney, Ben Laposky, and Harold Cohen created works that explored the potential of computer-generated imagery, often combining algorithmic processes with manual input and manipulation.

Today, generative art continues to evolve and expand, with artists using a wide range of tools and techniques, from custom software and programming languages to machine learning and artificial intelligence. Some artists use generative techniques to create works that are highly structured and precise, while others embrace the unpredictability and randomness of the process, creating works that are constantly changing and evolving.
