The visually humorous and somehow relaxing visual environment of ‘AZ356 - INTERLINKED’ is, in its essencial core, a deeply conceptual piece delving into the breaking of boundaries of layered and/or stratified mentalities. INTERLINKED is about empowering equality as an overwhelming force surpassing the outdated absurd beliefs of separation perceived by gender, creed and color.

Add Fuel x TheBonus

Add Fuel is Portuguese visual artist Diogo Machado (b. 1980). His focus has been towards working with and reinterpreting the language of traditional tile design, and that of the Portuguese tin-glazed ceramic azulejo in particular. Effortlessly blending these two seemingly-irreconcilable visual idioms, his current practice seeks to combine traditional decorative elements with contemporary visual referents into new forms that reveal an impressive complexity and a masterful attention to detail. If, on the face of it, his work in small and medium sized tile panels, large-scale stencil and freehand painted murals, and print editions might seem simply a pastiche of classic formalism, a closer inspection rewards the viewer with a chaotic world of unequivocally original motifs and characters brimming with deep emotions. Creating balance and harmony from symmetrical repetitions, a build-up of layers and techniques of visual illusion such as trompe-l'œil, his multi-layered patterned compositions produce a poetic rhythm that plays with the viewer's perception and the (multiple) possibilities of interpretation. Exploring a wide range of both manual and digital techniques in the fields of drawing, painting, ceramics, and printing, his practice expresses a sophisticated dialogue between the old and the new, between heritage and modernity. Besides the numerous public art interventions he has been creating in various countries, he has also been showcasing his work in solo and group exhibitions in reputed galleries and museums. TheBonus is Portuguese visual artist Márcio Pité (b. 1980) His works are mainly digital animations with 3D modelling and motion capture scenes originating different types of artpieces with similar characteristics. His graffiti art background started at a young age mixed with the love for video gaming since the age of the Spectrum computer. Those are the main pillars that make the variety of creative paths blended between traditional and digital behaviours. He worked for two decades as a digital engineer for Advertising, Music Videos and Short Movies, using initially Graphic Design and travelling through illustration, web design, motion graphics and 3D modelling, he is now focused on his own personal artwork as a digital artist. The strong African art inspired lines on his visuals come from his family roots as he was absorbing hand made art pieces since a young age. His line of work is always moving in pursuit of visual animated innovations always respecting his bases. Audiovisual loops are now his main target of development. With them, he intends to create a powerful fusion between all the type of arts he fell in love with.

Julien Raffin

Julien Raffin is a French artist based in Paris (b. 1985) He expresses his visual creation through the medium of collage and digital animation, playing with historical and cultural references, with the help of AI techniques. His work offers a poetic and dynamic narrative where colors and black & white come in opposition, revealing the contrast and dissonance between the past and the present in a disruptive harmony. instagram.com/julien_raaffin
