Josh Dykgraaf is an Australian photographic manipulation artist, his work involves photographing flora and fauna around the world and compositing them into other forms. His work explores different ecological issues by pairing various animals with different habitats and materials.
For each piece he takes hundreds or sometimes thousands of shots of a certain habitat, cutting out pieces that could correspond to different parts of the animals’ anatomy and layering them on top of the reference image in Photoshop. The process takes anywhere between 30-80 hours of work per piece, usually with a few thousand Photoshop layers in the document.
