Decade Undefined

Steph Crigler is an artist who takes pride and finds meaning in simplifying big, complex feelings into simple, relatable doodles. Steph felt a huge sense of loss after graduating college, retiring from a D1 sport, and joining corporate America. That, paired with the pressure of feeling her twenties were supposed to be her 'defining decade', led her to use doodling as a way to journal her way toward finding something.

She started an anonymous Instagram to hold herself accountable, and made a commitment to drawing a doodle every day for a year. She drew about her relationship with her then-boyfriend (now husband, affectionately known as Doodle Boy), her friendships, what it feels like on up-days, what it feels like on down-days, and everything in between. On the one-year anniversary of her first doodle, she revealed herself to a community of over 50k followers. Since then, her art and following has grown, with over 140k supporters on Instagram. She views the evolution of her work and the community she's found as evidence that it doesn't have to be perfect in order to be heard. It just has to be honest, and it just has to be said. Or, for that matter, doodled.

Steph feels passionately about NFTs and their promise to protect (and assign value to!) artists' intellectual property. After heartbreakingly seeing her art picked up on Instagram and reposted with filters added, signatures cropped, and concepts knocked off, Steph feels hopeful about what NFTs mean for respecting and valuing artists' work. Similar to how she explored and was new to the Instagram community, she is excited to make honest art about what it feels like to enter and be in the NFT community.
