The period from the 14th to the 17th centuries in Europe is known as the Renaissance, marking the rebirth or revival of classical learning and wisdom. The Renaissance flourished in many parts of European civilization, touching in particular the fields of art, religion, literature and politics, and signaling a growing awareness of nature. The Renaissance period witnessed some of the greatest works of legendary artists, many of whom are still revered today.
